Presents

4th of July Pirate Invasion
at the new
Cherokee Park in Englewood Florida

On my way back from photographing the guys setting up the fireworks at Middle beach, I decided to stop and see what the new Pirate Invasion Event might be about.  This new and fun Engelwood Event should prove to be quite popular.  But I think the constant rain did keep the event small this year.

The NEW Cherokee Park is located one block south of Dearborn Street at the intersection of Cherokee and Green Streets in Englwood Florida.

Again.. it wasn't a large event this year because of the rain...
but I still had fun photographing some of the pirates

There was a Pirate Booth with everything a part-time pirate could want

And live music from Francesco Macert

But what I liked most was photographing some of the
more photogenic pirates...

And sexy the fair maidens

And the colorful wenches that supplied the food and drink
to the crew  (no offense... just trying to think in pirate terms here :)

And some of the folks in the crowd that brought their picnic baskets and grills and planned to spend the day at Cherokee Park on  Lemon Bay and watch the fireworks from the dock that night at 9:05

This  group from Tampa  www.Gulf Coast Black Powder.com
really put on a good show at this event.

Many of them dressed to the hilt
in their pirate outfits.

But more importantly they were all armed
with some pretty cool pirate weapons

And they proved that they were all quite functional and good working order by firing them several times while I was there.

Not sure what the proper procedure is for loading this type of rifle
but it seems you have to blow air into the barrel...
(I think that's what she's doing)
before you load it with black powder...
The dampness did cause some misfires

But I think about 95% of the time the gun went off as expected.

To another great day of pillaging in Englewood Florida  :)

Special Thanks to Jack Gray of Graymatter Enterprises
for conceiving and promoting this event
